NICOSIA - The establishment of a Breast Centre and of a Gastro Centre at a later stage with the aim of effectively dealing with two common forms of cancer are among the government's priorities, Labour Minister Sotiroulla Charalambous said on Sunday.
Speaking before the start of the 37th Christodouas March at Phinikoudes Square in Larnaca, the minister said that the government has also decided to create two more radiology treatement centres in Cyprus, one of which will constitute the academic core of the medical school of  2013'.
Describing the Christodoula March as a leading demonstration of solidarity in the fight against cancer, and support for patients and their families, she said that events being held throughout Cyprus would not only raise funds but boost enlightenment.
She also highlighted the importance of the volunteer movement, adding that the Anti-cancer Association of Cyprus has a longstanding, valuable contribution in helping cancer patients.
The Christodoula March -- held in memory of a refugee cancern patient -- is the main source fo revenue for the association and helps fund medical and nursing care for patients in Arodaphnousa Hospice in Nicosia and Evagorion day care centre in Limassol.
