NICOSIA - Police are on the lookout for two armed robbers who hit a betting shop in Nicosia on Saturday night escaping with just over €11,000.

The robbery, according to police, took place at around 10.45pm at a betting shop in the Archangelos area of Nicosia. Two men, believed to be Cypriots, managed to take €11,180 from the 39-year-old owner of the established before making their escape. One of the men was brandishing a gun while the other was holding a baseball bat.

The first assailant is described as being 1.80m tall, aged between 31 and 35 with a dark complexion and with short black hair. He was wearing jeans and a dark green short-sleeved shirt with red and white patterns. The second man was said to be the same height, aged around 35 with a dark complexion and short black hair. He was wearing a jeans a purple t-shirt.

Nicosia CID are still investigating.
