LARNACA – League leaders AEL remain will take a vital 1-0 lead to AEK on Wednesday evening as they aim to seal their place in the final of the Cyprus Coca-Cola Cup.
Pambos Christodoulou’s side are currently two points ahead of nearest title rivals APOEL with two games left to go and are also on course for a unique double having won their first leg semifinal away to AEK Larnaca in the first encounter.
The Limassol side will be missing the suspended Jorge Monteiro for the second leg in Limassol.
AEK, who became the first Cypriot side to reach the group phase of the Europa League this season, welcome back key players Gonzalo Garcia, Gorka Pintado and Yakubu Alfa with coach Leon Vlemmings needing victory in the Cup competition to ensure his side’s passage into Europe next season.
Omonia, meanwhile, are overwhelming favourites to book their place in the final as they travel to the Dasaki stadium to defend a 3-0 aggregate lead.
Neophytos Larkou, who guided his side to victory in the Cup last season, will be missing the injured Freddy and Leandro for the game.
Ethnikos’ game against Omonia kicks off at 6pm while the AEL-AEK encounter starts an hour later.
